Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry offers one-to-one Christian care to people at New Covenant Presbyterian Church who are experiencing difficulties. Stephen Ministry Care Givers are trained church members with a heart to care for people who are hurting. Although Stephen Ministry Care Givers are not counselors, they meet one hour per week with their Care Receiver to provide a high level of Christian care.

An NCPC Stephen Ministry Care Giver maintains appropriate confidentiality about the Care Receiver’s identity and personal information, as well as the content of their conversations. However, Stephen Ministry Care Givers may share with New Covenant Presbyterian Church elders or pastors anything revealed in their time with a Care Receiver.

Stephen Ministry Care Givers provide care during a variety of crises and difficulties, including:

  • Loss of a loved one

  • Major medical crisis

  • Divorce or separation

  • Long-term care to a loved one

  • Retirement, unemployment, or a job crisis

  • Military deployment of a loved one

  • Birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility

  • Relocation

  • Recovery after an accident or disaster
