Ministries at New Covenant

“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” Ephesians 4:8

As members of the body of Christ, God calls us together in local churches to serve Him with all we are and have. That means that we are stewards of our bodies, minds, time, strength, talents, gifts and resources - all for His glory and for our good as His children.

At New Covenant, our vision is that each member would Experience New Life in Christ, Exalt God’s Glory, Encourage and Equip Others, and take part in Extending God’s Kingdom. We encourage you therefore to “serve and be served” – to benefit from the gifts of others and also benefit from using your gifts and talents in a manner pleasing to the Lord.

Possible Ministry Opportunities

You are a vital member of New Covenant, and an instrument in His kingdom. We offer this sample list of ministry opportunities below as means for the expression of your gifts in His service.

Worship at New Covenant. We “exalt God’s glory” together every Sunday morning, as God mercifully invites us into His presence.

Inquirer’s Class. If you are seeking to learn more about Jesus Christ, or what it means to be part of His church, we invite you to join this introductory class which is taught in a small group format.

Adult Education. We offer classes after our worship service each Sunday, in order to learn God’s word in an in-depth and interactive manner.

Children's Ministry. Sunday School classes are offered for all ages, as well as nursery during Sunday morning worship. We also have special activities for children and parents on specific evenings.

Youth Ministry. Our youth meet after the church service and also in the evening, for teaching, fellowship, music, and games. The youth are a vital part of the church family, serving in many ways inside and outside the church.

College and Career. Our church is blessed with many students from nearby universities and colleges. We serve students and young adults through opportunities to learn God’s word together, and through providing other opportunities for meaningful fellowship.

Men's Ministry. We seek to build relationships through a monthly men’s breakfast, yearly men’s retreat, accountable relationships, and service projects.

Women's Ministry. There are many ways relationships are built in the church among women, and many ways that women serve the larger body of Christ. These include regular Bible studies, mentoring relationships, special events, coordinating help for families in need, and more.

Growth Groups. These groups meet in homes or at the church on different nights of the week for Bible study, believing prayer, and encouragement.

Music. We are a musical congregation! A variety of musical instruments and voices combine as we worship God in song. Those with musical talents may consider helping with the worship service, youth and children, seasonal opportunities, or the choir.

Missions. We endeavor to give back to the Lord, and to experience the joy of serving the Lord, through helping fund missionaries who proclaim the gospel here and abroad. We also involve ourselves in short term missions trips that are an encouragement and educational experience for all ages.

Deacons. The deacons form the leadership of the church, but there are also specific opportunities of service offered in connection with the deaconate. These include specific work projects, which often serve those in need within our community, and other expressions of God’s mercy and practical concern for us.

Preschool. The New Covenant Preschool offers a program during the school year for children ages 2, 3, and 4. Please call 757-467-3545 for information or to register.

More... There are so many other ways to serve the Lord, whether your gift is evangelism, hospitality, teaching, decorating, administration, or serving a specific segment of our community.
